Healthcare is in crisis, according to WHO, countries at all levels of socioeconomic development face difficulties in the education, employment, deployment, retention, and performance of their workforce. By 2030 there will be a shortfall of 10 million healthcare workers globally especially in low-income countries. Contributing to the shortages is the under-investment in education and training of health workers and the mismatch between education and employment strategies in relation to health systems and population needs.
Medical societies and Associations' missions and objectives are based on supporting excellent patient care through research and the education and training of their members. With the attrition of healthcare workers, Associations will not be able to maintain their objectives.
