Setting criteria for their Board members has traditionally been taboo for most Associations. As a result, many Associations, despite the professionalization that we are experiencing in the past few years, are running with Boards which are not fit-for-purpose, lacking diversity, and oftentimes the tools and knowledge to perform their tasks.

This conversation with Dr. Agota Szabo, Board Governance Academic and Board advisor in the Netherlands, will cover the intricate procedures around electing an effective volunteer Leadership. From setting criteria for their selection, to the methods that work best for each organisation, all the way to the onboarding of Board members to ensure that they are working to the benefit of the Association.
